Georgia Elliott is a sporting all rounder and has already represented Australia in Indoor Netball where she was chosen to tour South Africa. Georgia (left) is pictured with current Ryde Eastwood Mixed Opens team captain Bridie Hill. Georgia's touch football career has seen her develop well from her early days at Hills to now being one of the leading players in our Hawks Mixed Opens side. Her ability to play against the men and compete at this level is a testament to her fitness, competitiveness and her willingness to challenge herself. Her never say die attitude inspires the players around her! Georgia is also a strong leader with her actions and never backs down from a situation. Team Captain Bridie Hill said “Georgia is one of those players that you want in your team. She is first to training and last to leave the nightclub. Her ability to lift the team on the field with a special play or a try saving touch inspires everyone around her. When she was injured at the 2019 State Cup (see photo attached), our team was shattered to lose her, however she continued to inspire us as Assistant Coach. That injury to Georgia in the early rounds definitely affected the team however she will be back next year and with her fully fit, hopefully we can go one step further than the semi-finals”. Congratulations to Georgia on being the ‘Hawks Senior Player of the Month - June 2020.' Attractive Blinds and Shutters have been sponsoring Ryde Eastwood Hawks for a very long time. They have been heavily involved in supporting the club since the introduction of the junior competition. The AGM for Ryde Eastwood Hawks Touch has had to be postponed due to the social distancing rules that are still in place.
The new date and time is Thursday 11 June at 7:00 PM. We are hopeful that the Ryde Eastwood Leagues Club will still be the venue. However, if the rules at this time do not allow this but do enable other meeting place options then these other options will be considered. Further updates will be provided as soon as government announcements enable us to make a decision. Kendall Kilby is a player with the world at her feet. She can step off both feet, she can pass naturally both sides and is a born leader with a wealth of knowledge. All at the age of 9...... Whilst she mixes it with the boys in Rugby League (for the Holy Cross Rhinos), Kendall has really dominated her first two seasons of touch football with the Hawks. She was recently awarded the Hawks Medal for her strong performance at Port Macquarie and throughout the gala days. Whilst she still has a long way to go in her career, the skills and ability she has at such a young age will hold her in good stead for the future. Her coaches love coaching her and only have to explain something once to her and she will understand. Even better than understanding it, she will execute the plays on the field. Her Coach Debbie Brewin also added 'Kendall is a true competitor and a pleasure to coach. She truly is a player who could go all the way in her career if she continues to develop at the rate she is at now. Hard to believe she is so young when you watch her play'. Congratulations Kendall on being Junior Player of the Month. It is fair to say that a Club can be built around a player and a person like Regan Walsh. He has proven himself at every level and is a player that brings out the best in his team mates with his never say die attitude. Besides representing Ryde Eastwood with great distinction, Regan has continued to play at grassroots level for many years with "Framing Life" on Monday nights in the local summer competition. This team of the young and not so young typifies the spirit of the Ryde Eastwood club . The team comprises Regan and his father and uncle and their mates along with friends of Regan. Regan started his career with the Hawks as a fleet footed 9 year old and was soon an integral part of the Barry Gibson coached juggernaut that won four junior state titles. He then made the successful transition into seniors and has won two State Titles at Senior State Cup. A link or middle, Regan has proved himself against the best in the state and has been rewarded with selection in the NSW Combined Catholic Colleges (NSWCCC) and Sydney Scorpions teams. Coach and mentor Barry Gibson said that ‘Regan was not only one of the most coachable players he has coached but he also has a unique ability to bring out the best in the players around him with his personality and skills. He is also one of the most popular players in the Club’ Some of his career achievements are highlighted below: - Junior State Cup - Champions 12s, 14s, 16s (twice) - Senior State Cup - Champions 20s, 1st Division - Vawdon Cup - Champions Div 3, Div 2, Div 1 (Player of the Final in Div 1 victory) Now he is (along with this group of players) focused on winning a Premier League Title with the Hawks over the next three seasons. Congratulations to Regan on his player of the month award. |
