Congratulations to Sheree Donkin on her well deserved "Blues Award" recognising her volunteering efforts.
Sheree has made an outstanding contribution to the club since joining the Rep Team Committee. Her efforts are appreciated by all within the Ryde Eastwood Hawks family and it is fitting to see this wider recognition. A very humble Sheree said when advised of her award - "(It is) Such a joy to not only work alongside, but to be recognised and nominated by some of the hardest working ambassadors of community sport. Charlie Carbone is the Hawks Junior Player of the month for August 2020.
Charlie is a player with the world at his feet. ‘Chucky’ as he is known to his mates is one of the fastest players in the Club. He can step off both feet, and can burn a defender before they even know they have missed the touch. All of this at the age of 9...... After playing a leading role for the local Holy Cross Rhinos Rugby League Club, touch football was the logical next step in testing his speed and silky skills. After two years with the Hawks, his decision has been justified with a trip to the Grand Final (u/8s) and a semi-final berth (u/10s) more recently in Port Macquarie. In doing so, Chucky was awarded the coveted players player award in his first year. A student at St Charles Ryde, Chucky has also dominated the school athletics carnivals and NSW State Titles. He has also played in the OZ Tag championships for Sydney City and has already won a Junior League Title for the Rhinos playing a year above himself. Whilst he still has a long way to go in his career, the speed, skills, footwork and determination have plenty of good judges in the district comparing him to a young James Tedesco. He has been very fortunate to be mentored by Wests Tigers premiership winner Ben Galea and George O’Beid who was a rep touch player himself. Chucky’s coaches both spoke glowingly about his attitude, speed, desire and to continually challenge himself to improve. His understanding of the game and his ability to execute the plays on the field is another trait both coaches spoke about. ‘Charlie is a true competitor and a pleasure to coach. He has the skills and ability as a player (and a person) to go all the way in his career if he continues to develop at the rate he is at now. it is hard to believe he is so young when you watch him play with that blistering speed’. Congratulations to Charlie ‘Chucky’ Carbone on being Hawks Junior Player of the month for August. |
