O'Brien Engineering has been a sponsor of the Hawks for over twenty years and Club legend John O'Brien has been a wonderful contributor to our Club on many levels. Below is more about their company.
In 1963, Allan O’Brien—a toolmaker by trade and one of the leading toolmakers in Australia—started a small business from a garage in Gladesville, Sydney. While working hard to establish the new business, Allan and his wife, Norma, lived and worked in this garage. They later built their family home on this same property, where they raised their three children. Today, O’Brien Engineering is Australian-owned and managed by second- and third-generation family members. O’Brien Engineering has two branches: their head office, manufacturing and distribution branch is located in Silverwater, Sydney; and their sheet metal engineering branch is located approximately 90 kilometres north of Sydney in Fountaindale. As well as having over 350 standard die sets to punch various materials, they have invested in highly accurate, innovative Amada CNC machinery—including laser cutters, press brake benders, and turret punches. This allows them to produce high-quality products within a short time frame. Along with their manufacturing expertise, they are also a distributor of hand-operated guillotines, corner cutters, tapes, findings, and a number of various materials. Their reputation is built on precision work with a fast turnaround without sacrificing quality. Their friendly customer service team can assist you with your design ideas—from prototypes to large runs and everything in between. With over 55 years’ experience, their expert operators will find a solution to suit your needs. They are committed to service and quality. Remember to support those who support us!!

Patrick is also a very proud father and recently accepted a role on the Club’s Rep Committee to oversee the recruitment and retention of referees for our Rep Program. One of Patrick’s mentors and current Hawks Board Director Bill Calleja added “ Pat has always been one of the guys to put in. As a referee, a coach, he just gets his hands dirty at junior or senior level. Pat has given his all and in another positive move for the Club, is Pat is offering more time and commitment to our Club. Pat is one of many that could have received this accolade but there is no better recipient. Well done mate“. Congratulations to Pat. He is a fine ambassador for the Hawks Club. Zac’s rep touch footy career started in 2012 when he played in the u10’s for the Hawks and recently represented our Club in (his first year playing) the u/18s boys division. This is his 9th year playing for the club.
Zac is a committed member of the Ryde Eastwood Touch community who not only plays at an elite level but referee’s in the Monday night competition and plays in both opens and mixed teams including one of which won their recent grand final. Zac also participates in the Hawks Winter competition in both opens and mixed to continue honing his skills. He has played Vawdon Cup for the past two years and has been selected in the Sydney Scorpions representative program for the past two years. Zac is a team player who always gives 100 percent to his team and the Club. He is a quiet achiever on and off the field with speed to burn. He has also earned the respect of his fellow players, club members and coaches through his willingness to always give his best at training and during a game. As Zac prepares for his last JSC in 2021, our Hawks senior coaching staff have already identified him as a player who will make the transition into Premier League over the next three seasons. Over the past nine years he has been presented with a host of players player awards, Hawks Medal Awards. Last year he was nominated for the prestigious Jack Liston Award which was an unbelievable honour for someone at such a young age. He is also consistently encouraging his two sisters Maddie and Issy to continue their development as touch players (see picture attached). Hawks Head Coach and Coaching Director Barry Gibson said that “Zac has the world at his feet and will progress up the ranks rapidly if he continues to apply himself to training and to the Club”. |
