Conti Strata Mini Hawks ‘Learn before you play’ junior program proudly supported by City of Ryde Council

16/12/2021

The free Conti Strata Mini Hawks ‘Learn before you play’ junior program proudly supported by City of Ryde Council has wrapped up for the year.
Started several years ago but revamped in 2020, the free six-week program aimed at 4 – 9 year-old’s has gone from strength to strength and is a big hit among local families with over 70 children enrolling this year.

The participants and their families all had a great time and this was in no small part due to the efforts of the tireless volunteers of the club and the expertise of CSP Athlete Factory who supplied professional coaches. Special mention to Ron White for his weekly effort of brilliantly barbecuing the sausages generously supplied by The Meat Boutique in the Midway Shops. Also, thanks to Chris Hopper for putting together the photos and certificates for each of the children and to Cheyne Harrison for his passion to get this program to where it is today.

Besides the certificates and the photos each child received a Hawks singlet and was provided with a sausage sizzle each week. A great deal that is only possible due to Conti Strata and City of Ryde Council.

Participant survey results
Impressively, 87% of children attended every session and 83% of parents who enlisted their children in the program rated it as ‘great’.
Feedback from survey referred to it as “a fabulous program that encourages children to learn the basic skills of touch and be active. Highly recommended with coaches who were fabulous. A well organised and run community initiative.”
While some children will now progress to play in older age groups next season, some 75% of respondents said their child would “return for sure in 2022”.
