Malakai Latilevu is our Hawks Male Player of the Month for October
The Player of the Month awards are an initiative of the Club to showcase some of our emerging talent. Malakai is a perfect example of a player who has talent and is certainly one to watch. Malakai’s rep touch footy career started in 2012 when he played in the 10’s for the Hawks and he recently represented our Club in his first year of the 18s boys division. Malakai is a committed member of our Club playing in our Summer and Winter Competitions as well as representing the club at JSC and Vawdon Cup. He also referees in the local competition. He has been selected in the Sydney Scorpions representative program throughout the past four years. His selection at the higher level did not surprise our coaches who know he possesses the skills and talent required to play at that next level. Malakai is a team player who has speed to burn combined with undeniable athletic ability but more importantly he is a player who always gives 110 percent to his team and the Club. His ability to connect a team on and off the field is a special talent that not many players enjoy. It is fair to say he is one of the most popular players in the Hawks Club. He has also earned the respect of his fellow players, club members and coaches through his willingness to always give his best at training and during games. As Malakai prepares for his last JSC in 2022, our Hawks senior coaching staff have already identified him as a player who will make the transition into Premier League over the next three seasons. Over his years with the club he has been presented with a host of “player’s player awards” and Hawks Medals. He is also consistently encouraging his sister Eleni to continue her development as a touch player and her improvement has been unbelievable. Hawks Head Coach and Coaching Director Barry Gibson said that “Malakai has the world at his feet and will progress up the ranks rapidly if he continues to apply himself to training and to the Club. When he continues to learn about playing at the next level (against men), he will make the transition into Premier League with ease based on his skill level. Certainly a player of the future for us”. Congratulations to Malakai on being the Hawks male player of the month for October. Comments are closed.
