Matthew wilson - male player of the month - november 2021

Matthew Wilson who is our Hawks Male Player of the Month for November.
 
How many times have you heard someone say, “have you seen this kid play, he is a freak”!! Well we wish that we had a dollar for every time someone said that about Matt. A player who has speed to burn and an ability to turn games with a trick play that everyone knows is coming but just can’t stop.
 
On the field, he has established himself as one of the best players at any level. Dominating through the junior ranks and quickly moving through to Premier League, Scorpions, NSW State of Origin and Australia after his consistent performances over a long period. Off the field, he has also forged a league career and now plays AFL professionally after working his way through the Sydney Swans Academy. Below are Matt’s career highlights so far:

Barry Gibson has been a close mentor and coach of Matts for over a decade. It is a testament to Barry that these players play for him and Matt has learnt plenty off Baz. Matt was quoted as saying “Barry has been a driving force in my career and  so many others. We stay together as our desire is now to win a Premier League title!
I have enjoyed being coached by the greatest coach I have ever known. He has so much knowledge of the game and has shown me how to be the best player I can be and that has made me a better player and a better person”.  
 
Matt eats, sleeps and breaths Hawks culture and is widely considered as the GOAT by his team mates. He is so humble in his approach, he is one of those players every Club needs.
