The old saying ‘the world is your oyster’ reflects the natural ability of Mikayla Kelleher. Born and bred in Ryde and a student at Riverside Girls High School, Mikayla (or Mik to her friends) is the type of player you build a Club around.
During her four seasons at the Hawks, Mikayla has won numerous individual awards (2017 - Hawks medal, 2018 - Players Player, 2019 - Hawks medal, Youth Vawdon Cup player’s player) and has also captained and provided leadership for the teams she has played in. Her blistering speed and blonde hair sets her apart but it is her commitment to the team that has players wanting Mikayla in their team. A real game changer that every coach wants, Mikayla has made her mark at the Hawks with her tenacious driving and ability to score from any position on the field with her speed. Many good judges can see that this girl has the talent and support to go all the way in whichever sport she chooses. Combining her touch football skills with representative netball and athletics, Mikayla dreams of becoming a professional athlete one day. Along the way she would love to play Women's NRL State of Origin Touch, Play NRL Touch and to win a Junior State Cup with the Hawks or even run at the Olympics. Lets hope that she can achieve all four!! One of her coaches, David Kelly said “Mikayla is one of those players who loves touch and plays well above her years in maturity. Her natural ability, speed and athleticism is something that is admired by everyone at the Club. Mikayla will continue to develop and move into our senior program with ease under the guidance of Barry Gibson. Her infectious personality makes her one of our most popular players in the Club”. Congratulations Mikayla on being Hawks Junior Player of the Month for September. Comments are closed.
