Hawks Senior Player of the Month for February is Zoe Chaney.
Zoe Chaney is the player every team needs and every coach wants in their team. With speed to burn and a great knowledge of touch, Zoe has the undeniable ability to turn games. Zoe has a caring & soft personality that draws people to her and has been a key member of the Hawks since the age of 8 years old. On the field, she has established herself as a player who can single handedly change a game with her freakish speed. This has been evident throughout all of her junior career: when teams slightly turned their backs she would already be through their line after scooping the ball on the run. There are very few players with her pace off the mark. This speed has been inherited from her father (Eric) and he continues to mentor and train Zoe throughout her career. Zoe was a key player for the recent Women’s team that won the Div 3 Vawdon Cup Grand Final and made a critical touch after chasing down one of the Souths Sydney girls and made a desperate touch to save a try when the game was in the balance. There is an old saying that you can’t beat speed in touch football and this is evident when you watch Zoe play. Hawks Senior Coach Barry Gibson has been a close mentor and coach of Zoe and said, “I have enjoyed watching Zoe develop throughout her formative years and see her still on the path to reaching her undeniable potential. Her knowledge and application will see her make the transition from juniors to seniors really easily if she continues to learn more about the game and train hard”. Congratulations to Zoe on being the Hawks Senior Player of the month for February 2021. Comments are closed.
